Dress Code: why is there a difference?

I like dressing up if possible I will do it all the time, but my fashion sense is not really for the everyday look. Society has set rules about it, and you know why it’s hard to follow? It’s because of the unspoken.

Let’s say that you are going for job interview for an office you need to be in corporate attire. A skirt or slacks with blouse or polo. I get that you have to be presentable as a first impression but will it not be easier for the interviewer to see you when you are comfortable and yourself during the interview, than be surprised after hiring you that you that you have an attitude that was covered up by the clothes you were wearing?


Dressing up is not that bad for me, I know I should as after all people are attracted to physical appearance first. However, I’m sure that most people would want to be accepted for who they are and for the possible contribution he/she can give. Also, this may not be for everyone but I do feel more productive if I’m in the clothes that I like, which most of the time Jeans and shirts.


Yes you might think that I’m just making an excuse for all the time I have failed an interview maybe it was not the clothes, maybe it was really who I was and what I want to work on. I just want to point something out. I how this make sense in a way still, thanks for reading this. Have a good day!

Me and Styling: Dressing up for work

I started this on Tumblr as I knew I’m not smexy enough for Lookbook.

I believe in dress in up but it does not have to kill one’s wallet. Most of the time I wear jeans and t-shirts and when I do dress up, it’s for work or for an event where I have to dress up. I have my style though and even it’s for work I make sure that I do not look like I copied what I wear from the magazines. I have never been in a work place that requires me to be in business/formal attire, so I still can go to work in dark colored jeans or a dress that is not commonly use for work see the photos below

So I recently bought new pats from Uniqlo, is called Ultra Stretch Skinny Fit Cargo Pants. I got the olive colored one. I have used it for work already; I forgot to take a photo. I like it as I can use for work and I can use it for causal day outs. I got it on sale hahaha I hope the price goes down again I’m thinking of getting the dark gray one too.

I like the fact that it feels military like 

 You must be wondering, "What the point of this post?". Th point is no matter how expensive the clothes you are wearing if you are not confident that it look AWESOME on YOU it will never look as pretty as you want it to be.

Fashion vs Style

Let us start with defining the two words

Fashion
A popular trend, especially in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior.

Style
A distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed.

Both definition were lifted from google

Why did I define the two terms? For me to point out that they are not the same, they can be synonymous but not interchangeable for me. Fashion is general and Style is fashion with a personal touch. Take this black dress as a sample.

Let us say that this black lace dress in the new in fashion. It means it is trendy. However not all that is trendy looks good on people. That is where style comes in. Now look at this modified photo (sorry about the bad photoshoping)

By adding a few items it have become my style, yes I like Gothic things. This is my style and I know if I have these items with me I will look good in it. I has become unique to me, as against if I just were the black dress.

I sure you have your own style one that will always make you look good unlike fashion that only looks good on a select few
