MIBF: Last day

This sums up may MIBF experience

How was your Manila International Book Fair? I was able to pass by on the last day, I was there for Sir Manix Abrera. The lines where crazy. We really must love books and the authors!

There a fandom fest as well. This is the biggest MIBF yet, they have occupied the whole SMX Convention Center in Pasay. There was a lot going on in different parts of the convention center. I was able to see 3 stage set ups. There was a line for people that want their book signed by a particular author within a given time frame.

A Baby Dalek
*If you do not know where this was from, we can't be friends!*
Just kiding!

It was a good thing that we came early to the Visprint booth and we got our queue numbers. The schedule for the book signing was from 10am to 5pm. However, it started late but it was worth the wait! ^_^

As you can see I'm an awkward kid. I have never met Sir Manix before and it was overwhelming that he was so relaxed and chill. He actually talks to you while he is signing. Asking about your work and saying sorry for being late.

I got my 1-9 Kiko Machine Komix signed. Sherome the one that introduced me to these komix had this silent stories signed! It was a fun day. Until next year MIBF!

They kinda look the same, right
PS: The latest Kiko Machine will be available on Komikon 2017!

Patay na si Hesus: Movie Review?

Patay na si Hesus trailer

Patay na si Hesus is a story about a family traveling from Cebu to Dumaguete to attend the wake of their estrange head of the family. Each member dealing with personal issues. There is nothing like a road trip to resolve internal conflicts.

This movie was initially released in 2016. It gained popularity this year, as one of the entries in Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. Starring Miss Jaclyn Jose as Iyay, the mother of three. Hubert is the eldest has Down Syndrome; Jude formerly known as Judith Mary is the middle child; and Jay the youngest and is currently a freeloader.

Because it is funny

This movie really made me feel like I was with them during the trip. It has the right mix of random characters that you have most likely encountered in your life like, Mary the partner of Jude that was cheating on him. It may not happen to you directly but I'm sure one way or another you have heard a similar story from friends or friends.

There are situations that seem so real as well. Hubert has been getting special attention from Iyay as he has Down Syndrome. However, he has proven that he does need that attention. He is most of the time being shown like by their neighbors and even in Dumaguete, he quickly finds someone that thinks he is cute. Hubert is confident even if he is dimmed as different.

Given that Iyay is your typical mom so I won't talk about her too much. Let's focus on Ms. Mailes Kanapi as Sister Linda, Iyay sister-in-law. She is like you random aunt that does not know when to stop. She can embarrass you unintentional or intentionally.

This was a funny adulting movie. Not for kids even if there was a kid in the movie. At the end of the day, you will cry more if you lose someone that has been with you for the longest time. I hope I did not put too many spoilers.

Bring it on: Nuclear Spicy Noodles

artsy shot of the Hek Buldak Extra Spicy Roasted Chicken Ramen

It is everywhere! The Nuclear Spicy Noodles Challenge or Nuclear Fire Noodle Challenge. I'm not sure when it started though. What is this challenge about? You need to finish eating Hek Buldak Extra Spicy Roasted Chicken Ramen. Made by Samyang Food. It was introduced to the market early 2017. According to the packaging it has 8808 SHU. Making it the world’s SPICIEST instant noodle.

Ice cream will save me
I finished eating a pack within 30 minutes I think. I stopped too many time for ice cream breaks. Yes, in a way a failed the challenge but I still finished it on my own. My little sister fail though. I might try to eat this instant noodles again. I did kinda enjoy its spiciness.

proud moment from someone that does not eat enough spicy food

Things that bother me though:
1. It's called ramen but there is no soup
2. Where is the chicken flaver of this Roasted Chicken ramen

Are you up for the Challenge?
