Silventure: Ren Faire 2025

 

    Let me start by thanking Cali for letting me drag them to Baguio and enduring my bad DIY travel planning. Love you, Cali!

    The 2025 Ren Faire was held in Baguio at the Igorot Stone Kingdom in February. This marked the second time the event has taken place. I missed the first one, so I was determined to attend this year. Huge thanks to Cali for letting me indulge in this experience!

    It was so electrifying to be there. We attended 2 of the 3 days of this event. Being able to see how people interact at this event was very different from other events I have been to. People felt nicer and a lot more approachable.  

Gowns, armour, swords, and amazing headdresses. The location is also great for photoshoots. I knew the outfits I had ready were very simple compared to the ones the other people had made for themselves. However, I felt welcomed, and everyone seemed more approachable. 

 Overall, I would like to go back. I need to experience all 3 days, even the night shows. The organizers have that there will be no Ren Faire in 2026. Which will be good, I guess, that way I will have more time to prepare for it.

2025: So Far 1st 6 Months

 Now that we are at the last quarter of the year... Let's list the things that happened, based on the photos I have and the things I wrote down, since I don't remember anything without proof, haha.

January: New Year

• New Year's party at Home - I can't believe I survived 2024
• First RTO at the office and Team Leader's Bday party
• Got to visit 2 Cafes this Month: In Between Sun and Moon Café and Good Day Café 
• Work has been dreary.

April: This was Birthday Month

• Got my driver's license renewed.
• Got a new mechanical keyboard
• Went to events to meet up with people (Philippine Bookfair)

May: Social Month

• Got to watch Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical with Katsumi (Will make a separate blog for it, I know it's super late)
• Got to stay at a Condo with pool access for Mother's Day! I will try to do a review of the place soon. 
• When to Summer Komikon and got to try Nanyang Cafe.

2024 was fun; work was a bit stressful, but I survived sort of. Next blog will be for 2025 monthly update.

Silventures: More in Tagaytay

Looking for things to do in Tagaytay as a day trip? Do you have your own ride? Then these places are perfect for you. This is me traveling to Tagaytay with little sleep. So we had lunch as Mushroom Burger!

Since I can't eat beef due to the recovery from the operation I had. I opt for the mushroom burger. This was the first time I had this and it was kinda weird but it was good. If tasted like cream of mushroom with bigger pieces and less soup. They do have regular fries now so make sure you tell them that you want mushroom fries!

 There is still time before afternoon snack so we when to The Gingerbread House in Alfonso. This one is pretty far from civilization. see the maps for comparison. It is a bakeshop with cute decor and it feels its Christmas all year round.

There are a lot of places where you can sit down and take cute photos for your IG account. I like the swinging bed but I was scared to try it out. There is a 50 PHP entrance and you can stay as long as you want. You can make smores for a fee. I did not try it so I don't know the price.

 It's a bit crowded when we visited as there seems to be a group tour at the time. I still did enjoy visiting the place. It will be a fun trip for your barkada if you have a van to rent.

Time to have some afternoon snacks! This is really the reason why I was in Tagaytay, Kuuma Kaakao. I saw Tara sa South's post and I wanted to try their food out. The price is alright, the service is a bit slow though. If you are in a hurry don't go there.

The food was great and the view is awesome too. We did think that it would have been better if they had tea or coffee on their menu as a pallet cleanser. Having hot chocolate with something sweet was too much.

Look a giant chair! You can find this on your way to Crosswind Tagaytay. If you know someone that is an agent for this place you can event go inside for house viewing. Near the entrance, you can see Santa's treasure shop and his raindeers!

It would be best to be there early as there is a trail that you can go up to if it was still bright out. I'm not sure if it was called Alpine trail I will need to check if the one that knows. Hehe

International Museum Day: Intramuros Guide

Thanks to this event I got to see 4 museums for free and one garden ruins for 75 Php. Let's start with Casa Manila. I have been there just in the courtyard. I did not know that there was a museum that preserved how a well off family lives. The top photo is the study below is the music room on the 3rd floor.

Casa Manila is located at Plaza Sans Luis complex, General Luna Street. The fee to get in on regular days is 75 Php.

Next, is Bahay Tsinoy in 32 Anda Street corner Cabildo Street. Shows how we started interacting with Chinese people. You will find jade bracelets, porcelain bowls, and old cigar packagings.

They are open from Tuesdays to Sunday. Entrance fee is 150 Php. I'm sure people will enjoy taking photos with the sari-sari store set up.

Museo de Intramuros is the newest museum to open with this walled city. It houses, religious relics, paintings, and dioramas. It within the reconstructions of San Ignacio Church at Corner Arzobispo, Anda St.

Good news entrance is free from the first 6 months! I'm not sure but it will be best to start here as this is where we were given pamphlets of places you can visit within the walled city.

If you don't like reading about our history then Bagong Bayan Light and Sounds got you covered. Bring 10 or more friends so you can enjoy traveling back in time within an hour for 150 per head!

This museum tells you about our rich history using dolls, music, and play of light and shadows. It's a bit hard to get photos at this place best to enjoy the audio narration.

The site of many local movies, I find got to visit Baluarte de San Diego. I still want to go down and explore the actual ruins but the 75 Php entrance does not cover that.

There are many spots here that you can take photos of that is IG-worthy. They also have a bonsai garden! It was surprising to see a small bougainvillea plant with a trunk and the small Sampalok tree. Kudos to the ones that are taking care of this garden!
