Cosplay: Shokugeki no Soma

When was the last time I cosplayed, I don't really remember without looking for the photos. This is the first one this year. So excuse the simple and really lame costume. Skittles the cosplay group of Philippine Otaku Society, went to Best of Anime on the second day as students from Tōtsuki Culinary Academy.

I was Nao Sadatsuka, a second year student and specializes in using foul odored food. She is also known from her moniker, Boiling Witch. Like Soma, she is into  making dishes that are disgusting to taste.

She is also, known to stalk Erina and after that phase she started stalking Hisako. Too bad our group did not have an Erina or Hisako. We do have Soma, Megumi, Ryōko, The Aldini Brothers, Alice, Ryo, Urara, Rindo and Eishi

Me on stalk mode. Hahaha I can't wait for the photo shoot. I need to ready my uniform! Enjoy the rest of the photo. Also by the end of the day, Ryo got lost, but he is safe.

5 Famous Japanese songs from the 90's

The 90's was my time! This was the time I discovered Sailormoon on ABC5, now TV5. Those were the days! I miss it a lot. Things were a lot more simple then, yap I'm that old. So with that Let me talk about the 5 songs that opened that doors for me to love J-music!

1. Sweet Soul Revue by Pizzicato Five

I don't remember much on how this became popular in the 90's. I do know that it was a dance craze before. It was played on local radio stations at that time. Since the net did not really exist at that time. Most people will sing to it even if the words did not make sense.

I wanted to play this song all day, so I tried to get the album in cassette form as CD's were expensive for the elementary student me. Which brings us to the next song:

2. Feel Like Dance by Globe

Malls were still scarce at that time. That if you want to visit one, you will need to go to SM Makati or Landmark. I don't remember everything well but I know we were at Landmark to but school supplies. Lucky the record store/area was close. I was looking for the album of Pizzicato Five, however, the saleslady did not know what it was and I did not know the title of the song at that time.

She presented Globe's self-titled album, she said it is the one Japanese album they have. For them, I have loved the band so much! I think this was also played on local radio stations.

3. Automatic by Utada Hikaru

How did I learn about this song? MTV, I think but it was played late at night so it did not get the popularity it needed for Hikki to be known as a household name in the Philippines. I don't even remember how I got her album. I love her to this day. Her lyrics are just so relatable.

4. Hohoemi no Bakudan by Matsuko Mawatari

Is known in the Philippines as the opening song of Ghost Fighter or Yu Yu Hakusho. It is that danceable song that made kids run to the TV set as they knew it was time to watch Eugene and the gang on another adventure.

5. Zankoku na Tenshi no Tēze by Yoko Takahashi

This is from the series, Neon Genesis Evangelion. If you have watched it on ABS-CBN, you need to watch the series again as there were so many scenes that were cut for it to be aired on local TV. It's one of the most mind-boggling anime I have ever watched. For me, it is the closest to real life well minus the angels and technology.

If you are wondering why Sailormoon's and Magic Knight Rayearth's opening songs were not included, if it because it was sung in Tagalog.

5 things I have learned from watching Lupin III 2015

I just finished Lupin III: The Italian Adventure or Lupin The 3rd, Part IV. The series starts with Lupin getting married. I will not get into details. Just remember that after the Dream of Italy a famous artist will come next.

I have always loved this series. Sometimes, Lupin plays Robinhood and yes I know the end doesn't justify the means but at least I see he is really doing it be the benefit of another person. Most of the time as well he ends up with nothing.

1. Something from the past will always affect your decisions.

2. Until something from your present helps you decide otherwise.

a scene from World Dissection, Part 2

3. Always do what you think is right.

4. Get involve especially if your skills can handle it.

5. Be true to yourself after all in the end, it will just be you show love for yourself.

Marshal Duties: Another Great Day Tour - LiSa In Manila

image from a FB event

Last May a friend opened a chance for us to be Marshals for the Animax Carnival event. It was the same time that she opened the chance to help with the security for the LiSa’s Another Great Day Tour that at that time to be held in the Samsung Hall at SM Aura on June 27. This was something big, it felt like this concert will be a test if we can handle such and if we are successful more events like this might happen.

The call time was 8am, the concert was at 6pm. It was a long wait but it was worth it, it was fun making sure that we have everything ready and secured. By 10am, people were already outside the Samsung Hall in Sm Aura, not sure if that was announce the we will be giving 300 (200 for the premium ticket holders and 100 for the balcony ticket holders) queue number so that they do not have to stay in the hall and secure their place until 6pm. We cleared the lines before 11 or so, don’t really have the time to check time XD

I was asked to secure the food for everyone. It was fun at the same time a bit stressing as I do not want anyone missing their food but I can’t be at the table where it was set so from time to time I would ran to the table and check how many is still there if there was a pair eating, I asked them not to leave the food alone. I think I did a good job for lunch, for dinner though I was not the one that received the food. I was at door 2, welcoming people to the balcony. We were taking turns in eating dinner as it was showtime. I was almost done with my food, when music started playing… I finished it asap and ran to the post I was assigned to as we need to make sure that nobody will be taking photos, recording videos or even recording the audio.

To be honest I do not know who LiSa is (sign that I’m old), so I was surprise with the number of people that came to see her. The VIP or Premium section was almost full I think there were just a few sit not taken. So I was dead on my feet when I felt the floor bouncing. Yes it was it felt like there was an earthquake whenever the crowd would dance or cheer for LiSa. Haha at one point we were told to asked the audience not to jump to much XD

All in all it was definitely Another Great Day! The crowd is pretty much behave and cooperative. I do hope that this event as passed us so that LiSa can comeback with a full band ^_^

Photos here Yes it is just photos of our team and the crowd before the concert

Marshal Duties: Animax Carnival 2015

It has been two years since I have joined an event as a volunteer. It was a blast even if we had to stay at the entrance. It was nice to see that the venue was not crowed with cosplayers that do not really go in to the event proper. I have heard that if you are going to cosplay, you need to have a ticket for the event to be able to enter the mall or convention center where the event is being held.

On to the Marshal duties, as always we are the guardians of the gate, the front liners. We take your ticket take the half, stamp you and give you freebies. We are the ones that will greet you at the re entry door making sure that you are one of the people that we have greeted and stamped. ^_^

It was a great event in Hall 4, for 200 Php you can join the activities, check out the booths from sponsors and exhibitors. If you were there and you have tried the game and visited the booths, I’m sure that you got your 200 Php with the prizes that you got.

I think the other marshals are pretty much wondering why we still have the energy even after the event. It’s simple it was fun. It was fun working with the same people again, the same rowdiness and noisy. We had a few down times like with the food and that “Last Minute Media” on the first day but Day two was smooth as ever even if we had 2941 visitors it was I think 300++ more than day one. I was the one handling the clicker, I really wanted to get to 3000 but still 2941 was a good number.

If you were not there what did you miss?

1. Chance to see Alodia sing and dance
2. Glaiza De Castro judging the individual cosplay
3. The cosplay competitions both individual and group
4. Oo-Kun dancing
5. Junior New Systems’ live performance
6. Japanese guess like Gonzo and Triqstar;
7. Miss Nikki Veron Cruz entering this event
8. Lastly, you miss to see us bwhahha Just kidding

Thanks for reading this. Let me know how was your #ACPH experience.

Melon Pan!

://actar.wordpress.com/2009/05/09/of-chocolate-cornets-and-melon-pans/
Shana telling you how to eat Melon Pan

This is a food post. I love food it is obvious with how my body is XD

I am a self confess Japanholic. This post is about that bread I first heard of the animated series called Shakugan no Shana. Melon Bread or melon pan is bread that smells and taste like melon. Based on series it looks like a normal bun on the top part you will see criss cross markings. I am not really sure how the original melon bread is made but we found one from a Japanese restaurant called JiPan Cafe and Bakeshop in Glorietta. However, when my partner ate it is contained no melon flavor nor cream. It contained raisins. So the search continues.

Just recently, my sibling went to Japan and they came home with MELON PAN! It was legit melon pan! The small was awesome and the cream I love it! I was sad that the only brought home two, one was the orange one and the other was green. I will get more if I can ever go back to Japan.

Here is what it looks like:
